Old homes can offer a captivating combination of beauty and history, and the latest to catch our eye is this four-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath Victorian in Carver, Minnesota. Situated on two lots once owned by Minnesota’s Territorial Governor Alexandra Ramsey, the eastern half of the home was a separate structure built in 1856 for Carver’s first sheriff, Levi Hoyt Griffin.

Wood for the original house came from a sawmill located just three miles from the site, and in the 1860s and 1870s the home was reconfigured into an ornate seven-gabled home built in the Queen Anne style. Intricate woodwork welcomes visitors to the foyer, and the home also features wide plank Fir floors, period light fixtures, and interior shutters.

Transom windows let in light and the family room boasts a detailed original fireplace. An office is lined with impressive built-in bookshelves and even the master bathroom maintains authenticity thanks to a claw foot tub. The extensive wallpaper may not be everyone’s taste, but for lovers of Victorian style, this home could be just the thing. Ready to relax on the home’s pretty porch? 201 4th Street E is on the market now for $424,900.
